These stunning handmade, fair trade and eco-friendly sari journals are covered with vibrant sari fabric and bound with handmade paper. They are made by a small family business in Rajasthan, India.
They feature 125 pages of unlined, handmade paper, which is bound into the cover of the book. The paper is recycled, which means it is textured, so we don’t recommend using a fountain pen on it, as the ink may run.
6 colours available: Blue, Cerise, Green, Pink, Purple & Red.
The journals have been expertly crafted using a mixture of contemporary & traditional methods. The pages have been bound by hand so they are strong and perfect for travelling.
The saris used to make these journals come from Varanasi, one of the most religious cities in the world and a centre of excellence for sari making. Paper High use new saris as they cannot guarantee the cleanliness of recycled saris and cannot always get the correct styles and designs.
The paper is made by a charity in rural Rajasthan that promotes women’s education and their social standing in rural villages. It is called khadda paper and is made from recycled cotton that has been leftover from the massive garment industry in India. Only unbleached cotton is used, so no chemicals are present.
Due to the handmade nature of these products colour and designs may slightly vary but loveliness comes as standard.
If you’re after a smaller journal, we have this product also available in Mini and Medium.
